OLYMPIA – Following the appointment of Rep. Dean Takko, D-Longview, to the Washington State Senate, Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Sharon Nelson, D-Maury Island, released the following statement:
“Senate Democrats are excited to welcome now Sen. Takko to our caucus. He has been a leader in the House on issues ranging from watershed-stewardship to rural economic development. As the former chair of the House Local Government Committee, he has been an unfailing champion for local governments around Washington state.
“In addition, he has worked tirelessly to support industries like fishing and forestry that are critical to our economy, to protect jobs and workers and ensure the common-sense values of his district are brought to the Capitol.
“We look forward to having his leadership in the Senate on matters that are critical not only to his constituents in the 19th District but also to the state as whole.”
