OLYMPIA – With a packed Senate gallery looking on, Emily Randall (D-Bremerton) was sworn in today as the state senator representing the 26th Legislative District. Randall is one of five new Democratic members joining the Senate today.

“I’m eager to get to work on behalf of the families and communities in the 26th District,” Randall said. “We are going to build a future that’s full of opportunity for all Washingtonians, one where all of us can afford to live full and healthy lives.”

A community organizer and advocate for health care and education, Randall will be the vice chair of the Health & Long Term Care and the Higher Education & Workforce Development committees. She will also serve on the Transportation Committee.

“Growing up in Port Orchard, I saw every day that education and health care are issues that touch all our lives. I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues to expand access to health care, make college more affordable, and build pathways to living wage jobs in our communities.”

The 26th District covers southeastern Kitsap Peninsula, stretching from Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula in the south to Bremerton and Port Orchard in the north, and includes parts of both Pierce and Kitsap Counties.
