OLYMPIA –With his wife, their three children, and a packed Senate gallery looking on, Sen. Guy Palumbo, D-Maltby, was sworn in today to his first term in office representing the 1st Legislative District.

“I am honored and excited to represent the 1st District in the Legislature,” said Palumbo. “Our District is one of the fastest growing parts of the state. I’m going to work hard to ensure my community has the infrastructure and transportation options needed to handle population growth, support for small businesses that drive our economy, and services for our most vulnerable so they don’t fall through the cracks.”

Palumbo will serve on the Senate Higher Education Committee as the ranking Democratic member and on the Senate Local Government Committee.

“People from around the world are moving to Washington to work in our red hot tech industry,” said Palumbo. “My focus will be to expand and improve educational opportunities in the high-demand fields with the goal of creating a top-notch work force that further attracts more companies to set up shop in our state.”

Palumbo, formerly a senior manager at Amazon.com, owns and operates Roscoe’s Ranch an award-winning dog boarding business in unincorporated Snohomish County. He, his wife and their three young children live in Maltby.

The 1st Legislative District includes the communities of Bothell, Mountlake Terrace, Maltby, Brier, Finn Hill and parts of unincorporated Snohomish County.
