FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Jan. 13, 2020

OLYMPIA – Sen. Liz Lovelett (D-Anacortes) was sworn in to the Washington State Senate today to represent the 40th Legislative District. Lovelett was appointed during the 2019 legislative session and was elected to retain the seat in November.

“I am honored that the people of the 40th District chose me to represent them in the Senate,” said Lovelett. “I will work hard to pass legislation that reflects the values of the communities that elected me.”

A longtime environmental advocate, Lovelett will serve as the vice chair of the Senate Environment, Energy & Technology Committee. She will also continue to serve on the Local Government and Transportation committees, prioritizing work on our ferries.

This session, Lovelett plans to focus primarily on climate change, affordable housing and levy parity for schools.

“One of the most important parts of my job as a state senator is ensuring that future generations have access to the same opportunities that we enjoy today,” Lovelett said. “By protecting our natural environment and our children through common-sense legislation, I hope to preserve our incredible quality of life in the 40th District and across the state.”
