A new Boys & Girls Club along with parks projects in Lynnwood, Mukilteo, Edmonds and at Lake Stickney are funded in the 2015 Capital Budget proposed today by the Senate, Sen. Marko Liias, D-Lynnwood, announced. A project to renovate Edmonds Pier is also funded.

“Our growing communities face an ongoing need for more recreational outlets,” Liias said. “These are the kinds of projects that will make sure we have the facilities to ensure we continue to enjoy the best aspects of our incredible state and region.”

In Mukilteo, the budget funds the Shin Center, a new Boys & Girls club named in honor of the district’s long-serving former senator, Paull Shin. The 25,000-square-foot facility at Harbour Pointe will feature two gymnasiums, two ball fields, a state-of-the-art teen center, a technology center and an undersea exploration center.

“It is fitting that this center be named for Sen. Shin, because this center will do much for the people of Mukilteo just as Sen. Shin did so much for the people of Mukilteo in his long and proud career of public service,” Liias said.

In Lynnwood, the budget funds the renovation of Meadowdale Playfield.

In Edmonds, the budget funds land acquisition at Civic Center Field and the renovation of Edmonds Pier.

In Snohomish County, the budget funds Phase 1 work at Lake Stickney Park.
