Session Update – Jan. 30th

After digging our way out of the snow and navigating through power outages, work is continuing on schedule in

Budget discussions and job creation continue to be at the center of the legislative universe, but we also saw some historic legislation progress further than it ever has before as marriage equality received a hearing and garnered the final vote it needed to advance past the senate floor.

Our primary focus, however, remains on balancing the state budget. There are many difficult decisions still ahead, which is why I need your input as the process moves forward.

Greetings from snowy Olympia.

Despite the weather, the legislature is still hard at work
tackling a variety of issues, none more important than
creating jobs and balancing the budget.

There is a lot of work to get done in just a short amount of
time allotted during this brief session which ends in early

There will be many difficult and some unpopular decisions
to make in the coming days and months which is why it is
absolutely critical that you make your voice heard.

Senate Democrats are proposing a series of reforms to
save money today and to improve the sustainability of
state government for years to come.
