OLYMPIA – Sen. Bob Hasegawa, D-Beacon Hill, has been appointed to three critical committees in the Washington state Senate.

Hasegawa is moving to the Commerce & Labor committee to serve as the ranking Democrat. He will also serve on the Rules committee and the Senate budgetary committee, Ways & Means. Any bill that goes to the floor of the Senate for a final vote must pass through Rules and/or Ways & Means.

“I am very pleased to be serving on committees where I feel I can do a lot of good for this district and the state,” Hasegawa said on Thursday. “From addressing income inequality to funding education, there is a lot of work to be done. But being positioned on these three committees will give the 11th district a voice where it counts in state government.”

Hasegawa previously served for two years as the ranking Democrat on the Governmental Operations committee.
