Sen. Tracey J. Eide is a small business owner and lifelong resident of South King County. Serving her fourth term in the Senate. Elected Majority Floor Leader in 2005 and serves as Vice-Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee.

Sen. Eide is a champion for transportation, public schools, highway safety and small business. She has prime-sponsored three major legislative accomplishments benefiting the Federal Way area and all Washington State:

* Simple Majority for Schools’ school levies. In 2010, 66 levies passed throughout Washington as a result of the Simple Majority, providing $1.7 billion in school funding and benefiting more than 200,000 students.

* Intermediate teen driver’s license (IDL) system that has resulted in an almost 47 percent reduction in teen highway crash deaths and serious injuries

* The safety measure to ban drivers from texting or talking on a hand-held cell phone law.

She partners with the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce to improve the business climate, enhance Federal Way’s downtown area and to build a stronger identity for the South King County area.

Sen. Eide is a graduate of Harvard’s JFK School of Government Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.

She and her husband, Mark, have two children, Joanna and Matthew both of whom are graduates of the Federal Way public school system
