Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, today released the following statement after a tentative agreement was reached between International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and Pacific Northwest Grain Handler’s Association:

“The announcement of a tentative agreement between ILWU workers and the Pacific Northwest Grain Handlers Association is welcome news for our community and families across the state that rely on the export of grain.

“I would like to thank Gov. Inslee for his support and leadership throughout the process. I would also like to recognize all parties for their willingness to engage in the difficult work of negotiation and reaching an agreement. I am relieved that this agreement will make it possible for our ILWU workers to begin to return to their jobs and a more certain future for their families. Getting our ILWU workers back on the job is crucial to the health of our economy and community.”
